From Chainsaws to Idols: The Unlikely Link Between Chainsaw Man and Oshi no Ko

That's a surprising connection -- who knew?!

Today, we put two of the most popular titles in the past few months under the microscope: Chainsaw Man and Oshi No Ko. And even though they've had different levels of success, they have something in common: the artist of Oshi No Ko, Yokoyari Mengo, is a huge fan of Chainsaw Man!

Yokoyari Mengo's Love for Chainsaw Man

Mengo-sensei has loved manga since she was a kid and has always wanted to be a manga artist. She's worked on some awesome projects, like Scum's Wish, Cigarette Anthology, and Oshi No Ko. But lately, she's been all about Chainsaw Man! She even puts references to it in her own manga!

Mengo-sensei's love for Chainsaw Man has become more and more obvious. In fact, in 2020, she had to take a break from Twitter because the latest chapters were just too intense for her! And she even drew her own fanart of Power, a character from Chainsaw Man. How cool is that?

Oshi No Ko and Chainsaw Man

So, if you're not familiar with Oshi No Ko, it's a manga series that shows the dark side of the Japanese Entertainment Industry. And it's been a hit with anime fans! The premiere episode was a whopping 90 minutes long and gave us all the feels.

And get this: Oshi No Ko is set in the same universe as Kaguya-sama: Love is War, which is another awesome manga series by Akasaka Aya. Yokoyari Mengo illustrated Oshi No Ko, bringing her own unique style to the dark story.
